The Sailor Scout, Fantasy RPG set!

So… if there’s any executives of the Sailor Moon franchise who are thinking of ways to re-invent the show that doesn’t involving “gritty” or “realistic” (ie just like the cartoon but with high definition imagery, bruises and torn clothing…) I think sashamutch has possible the best idea ever for you.

They could go raiding dungeons by torchlight…

I would watch THAT over the pointless, generic reboot any day.

a restaurant in my hometown got a review that said the servers should “show some skin” so the owner added a potato skin special to the menu and all the proceeds from the special go to the west virginia foundation for rape information services (x)

That’s exactly the appropriate response.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

"I was talking to a friend’s little girl, and she said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were to be the President, what is the first thing you would do?’
She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’ ‘Wow - what a worthy goal.’ I told her, ‘You don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my sidewalks and driveway, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house.’ She thought that over for a few seconds ‘cause she’s only 6. And while her Mom glared at me, the little girl looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”
And I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party, sweetheart.”

"Years later, the little girl grew into an adult and realized that homeless people are homeless because you can’t make enough to afford all you need by doing yard work for $50 a day, and that many homeless people were disabled or mentally ill, making physical labor and many other entry-level occupations impossible for them. Also, without access to reliable transportation or money to buy nice clothes and a college degree, finding a job that would allow them to purchase or rent a home was also nearly impossible.
The girl then became a radical socialist and demanded the end of capitalism, which had created a society in which if you couldn’t do the work that others assumed was easy, you didn’t deserve to have your basic needs met and could die in the gutter for all they cared.”

When men talk of women and girls in terms of legal/not legal, what they’re really saying is “I already sexually objectify this child and would attempt to fuck her if there were no laws in the way.”

You can’t deny that is fucking scary.

Sometimes there are things that just sort of vaguely seem wrong, but you can’t put your finger on why…until it’s worded like this, and suddenly everything slides into place and you feel like someone punched you in the gut.

This guy.

He hates Twilight more than Stephen King.

Although I have to point out that there was a piece of speculative science fiction called The Blazing World published by one Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1666, slightly predating Mary Shelley.

This is the thing. Women have been doing awesome shit since there was awesome shit to do, we’ve BEEN THERE, if anyone bothered to look.

Oh, they looked. And then maliciously and willfully erased us from the books to keep anyone else from “getting ideas.”

Hell, the first named author in history? Enheduanna, a Sumerian high priestess, poet and lyricist. She’s known as the Shakespeare of Sumerian literature.
